Awkward-looking jeans can spoil the whole appearance of your attire making you look sloppy and unkempt. In that case, having perfectly fitting jeans is almost like a blessing from God. Let us show you a way out of how to fix a baggy crotch in jeans.

How To Fix Baggy Crotch In Jeans – Showing Steps

When everything is on the line, why should a baggy crotch spoil the look, right? Therefore, you must know what to do with your jeans when they have a baggy crotch. But what if you don’t have a sewing machine? Don’t lose hope. We have a solution for you. But before starting, you will require a few essentials.

Tools That You Need

  • Sewing needle
  • Threads
  • Safety pins
  • Sewing pins
  • Fabric pencils
  • Ruler
  • Iron

First Step: Measuring The Crotch

There are basically two ways to get the right measurements.

One: you can wear the jeans and pin the baggy part with safety pins or sewing pins, you want to get rid of.

Two: you can turn your pants inside out and lay them down on a flat surface. Now take perfectly fitting jeans as a guide and mark the perfect crotch length with a fabric pencil on your jeans with a baggy crotch.

You are allowed to follow whichever way you feel is convenient for you.

Second Step: Blending The Crotch Length With The Inseam

When you have the measurement for the perfect crotch, take your fabric pencil and mark the area you have to stitch. From the crotch length you have marked, draw a line 6 inches down blending it with the original inseam stitch of the pants.

Remember that the front crotch length is a bit shorter than the back crotch length. So while marking the sewing area that you want to take out, make sure you have adjusted the crotch from both front and back length evenly and there is no bump in between.

Third Step: Its Sewing Time

Cut your threads twice the length you will be sewing so that you can double thread the needle for better seam strength. It’s always better to cut a few inches extra than the thread is being run out halfway through. Then, put the thread into the needle. To make the entrance of the thread easy into the needle, you can wet the end of the thread you will be putting through.

After putting the thread into the needle, make a knot ensuring both of the ends of the threads are equal in length. Now it’s time for sewing. Start from the original inseam stitch of one leg to the new crotch line then to the end of the line you drew that blends with the inseam of the other leg.

Follow the line you drew previously with the fabric pencil to retain the measurement and seam line right. Push the needle through one side and bring it back from the other. Try to keep the stitches closer to one another to give a perfect seam strength. You may end up tearing the stitch apart if you can’t hold your temptation to finish the sewing part early.

Fourth Step: Iron The Seam Line

When you are done stitching, press the new seam line with an iron to give a polished final look.

You are done. Now wear your jeans to see if you have done proper justice to the crotch of your jeans or not.
